Hello everyone. I'm Kevin, I live in WNY. I am new to having chickens. I just picked up 6 baby chicks from TSC one week ago. They had 3 different breeds so I got 2 of each. 2 RIR 2 Copper marans and 2 australorp. I got the chickens mainly for the eggs as my family of 5 go through alot of them. I'm here to learn as much as I can from people that have been doing this awhile. I'm sure I will have alot of questions that have already been answered. I have been waiting for a local FB chicken group to approve me and had no luck for 2 weeks so I'm glad to be here to start learning everything I can about and enjoying my chicks

:frow hi Kevin, welcome to BYC! I'm in SE MO. We're all here to help, and we were all noobs once upon a time, too. Sounds like you are off to a good start. You're going to have a great time!
So far it has been very enjoyable. I have wanted chickens for several years but never built the coop. So I decided to get the chicks first so I have to build the coop. I am converting a shed into my coop at the moment.

Check for articles on coop building. Also remember to build way bigger than you need. You will end up with a bigger flock. Ask anyone here. :lau

True that! We call it Chicken Math. It's a, um... condition. Syndrome. Disease. Contagious. We all have it. You get it from buying those first cute, adorable, fluffy, innocent-looking, adorable chicks. Don't say we didn't warn you, next year when you order 20 from the catalog! :lau
