Hello,
I just joined so I'm doing the recommended introduction...
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I do not have any chickens yet, because I live in Fort Lauderdale, where they don't allow anything other than designer dogs and botox.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I would like to start with three hens when we move to Tampa next year!
(3) What breeds do you have?
I am really interested in getting Black Australorps. I also really like Cochins, but I have read that they don't love the hot weather we get in Florida.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I can't wait to just watch them doing their thing and being chickens! I love animals and making them happy and keeping them healthy does the same thing back for me!! I love the idea of fresh eggs from happy hens that are also part of the family.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I love to garden and pretty much anything else that keeps me outside and productive!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My husband and I also have a rescued dog and two rescued cats. We are really looking forward to moving out of South Florida and to the Tampa area in the beginning of next year! Anyone renting a house or duplex that wouldn't mind some chickens joining the neighborhood? lol We would like to buy a duplex eventually, but we think it will be much more doable to rent first and figure that out when we're already living there.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Your SEO is quite impressive. You pop-up on Google for pretty much every search of chicken anything, especially about cities that allow or do not. I joined for information and to see if maybe I could help change some ordinances in Fort Lauderdale before we go, for the chicken lovers that live here!
