Hello and welcome to BYC!
Chickens need lots of space inside and outside for good health. Just as it is with humans, too close in contact can breed disease. Good ventilation in the coop is very important, the air gets fouled with all the breathing, moisture and pooping. Keep things clean too, feeders, waterers, bedding, nest boxes, roost bars, runs, etc... A healthy diet of a formulated poultry feed, healthy treats like greens and veggies. And try to keep a closed flock. Introducing new birds opens the door to diseases, Silkies especially are prone to Mareks Disease and once they contract it, it's on your property and in your birds forever. Definitely search our forums and ask as many questions as needed. Best wishes with your flock!
