Hi and welcome to BYC. What a great introductory story you told. I can just picture poor Fonzie. Sounds like you have a great set up.
Beware of chicken math. Start with 12 so adding a few more won't hurt. Actually I think it should be called poultry math because between my daughter and I started with chickens, now have more chickens, ducks, and peacocks.
This is a great site for questions of all kinds. Make use of the search functions and threads as a source of lots of information.
