This is our first time taking care of chickens. My aunt gave us 3 Bantam chickens, 2 hens and 1 rooster last July and we now have 16 cute chicks. The "original" ones we have are so nice, but the rooster can have a bit of a temper. The first time he bit me, I got quite traumatized for a bit, since he was quite behaved during the first week.
I work during weekdays so I try and "hang out" with my chickens during breaks. We have a dog, and it was a nightmare when we first got our chickens. I thought he'd never calm down. Fortunately it only lasted a day or two, and although they do chase each other around every now and then, they got used to each other now.
I've found out about BYC, during the first month of taking care of chickens because I just had lots of questions and this forum really had a lot of great advice. I'e finally decided to join in because I have a question and I just cannot find an answer anywhere </3
