I'm happy to be a new member of Back Yard Chickens! I live in a small country town in Virginia with my family. My flock currently includes a husband, son, 2 Felines, 3 1/4 Canines...lol (hey, when your other dogs are German Shepherd and Kangals, counting a Papillon as 1/4 makes perfect sense! Lol), goldfish, 1 Pekin duck, 2 Rouen ducks, 1 African goose, 3 Chinese goslings, 1 mystery chick..possibly a bared rock, 3 silkie chicks and 1 ? Leghorn? chick.
I grew up around chickens and started raising chickens & ducks as a teen myself. Over the years I've had a random few, but this is my first real flock in a long time. I'm diving right in and trying to figure things out as best I can. I enjoy observing them & interacting with them so I have raised all but the African goose from babies. Consequently, I am very attached to them & protective. I don't want to sound like the crazy bird lady, lol, but I have been their mom & it's important to me not to fail them. I look forward to meeting you all & enjoying this adventure together!

Welcome. We have property in Bland, Va. We also have a Shepherd, husband, 2 sons, 1 feline, 22 girls and 7 turkeys.
