Very pleased to find a place with a huge amount of information about how to raise chickens:D

Actually it was my wife that kinda pushed my into this direction, as we are planning to have a few chickens in the backyard.

Eggs have become extremely expensive these days around, and the ones you purchase from the stores don't taste the same way as if they are home produced.

I plan to invest some time to read some of the topics here, and once I'm ready for it i will ask for some cool advice from you guys:)

Anyway I look forward to talk with some of you in the forums soon....

Lastly say hello to our cute and lovely dog Chucky - He is extremely kind and gentle towards other animals and the children adore him.

Welcome to you and Chucky! You certainly found the right place.

Love the pic of your dog! He looks like he lives the good life.

Great to have you aboard and welcome to our flock!

Welcome to BYC! We have scheduled a Scandinavian vacation for June 2015, and Denmark is our first stop (followed by Norway and Iceland). We are looking forward to seeing some of your country. What kind of chickens are you planning on getting?

Welcome! I was excited to read your post as I am half Danish. My dad moved here when he was around 30 after meeting my mom on a business trip in California. He was born and raised in Randers and his whole family is still there. I have been able to visit once, 10 years ago when I was 17. I love it there.. would love to live there but couldn't bring myself to leave my family here.. anyways!

What kind of chickens do you want to get? It is absolutely worth it to have your own. I think it'll take years for us to recoup the costs we've had in building our coop and run, etc as well as feed, but the experience itself is worth it, and you appreciate your eggs!

Awesome to hear from some of you guys, and specially that some of you are going on a trip - some even have relatives here:)
Well the most obvious reason behind getting some chickens is because of the heavy price increase in here.
Now a dozen i.e 12 eggs in a decent quality costs around 5 Euros.

In terms of something specific chickens, I will answer that question later...But the current plan is to get some that are easy to keep around and in the same time are able to produce some outstanding eggs. I love eating eggs for breakfast, so it's simply a must.

I remember we got some really good ones from a farm in here, dark yellow inside and I think they gave the chickens some salmon pieces too.

I totally agree, home produced eggs are the best.
