Hello everyone... I just bought a coop today.... and plan to get it put together tomorrow.

:welcome

Hi, is this the coop you got from TSC? https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/p...MIg4yp_dy9hQMVJk5_AB39MwXUEAAYASAAEgLdJfD_BwE

It claims to be large enough for up to 14 chickens, but that's really overstating things. With it being just under 6sq ft, I wouldn't want to use it for any more than 5 hens at the most.

If you revise those 3 nesting boxes to create just one large communal box that would give the hens more space to lay. And if possible, maybe you could rearrange the roosts so they have a bit more room while they are roosting.

Good luck, if you need more help, you can find it on this forum: Coop & Run forum

Hiya, and welcome to BYC!! :frow

I would also look at a way to secure the roof better. I like @TwoCrows idea for securing it to the ground. Here in Wisconsin, if you did neither, either the roof or the whole thing would get wings and take flight as we get 40-50 mph wind often. Today again!

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
If you bought a prefab coop I'm afraid you're going to be extremely disappointed in the quality and in the number of birds it will actually house.
I was only planning to get 5 or 6, and this will be a good starter for me.... Who knows... I just need somethings in my life so I can relax and enoy
