(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chicken?
We got our 1st flock a year and half ago. We started with a 6 pack of tiny chicks from Tractor Supply and wound up with one rooster and 5 hens.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
we have 6 chickens, 4 from the original flock and 2 pullets that we got about 5 months ago.
(3) What breeds do you have? 2 Red Sex link, one Black Star, one White Bantam Cochin, one Barred Rock and one black Australorp.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? Besides fresh eggs, They are very social and have a variety of personalities. They always make me smile.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? reading, facilitating groups at church, scrapbooking, cooking, dogs, cats.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. We have two dogs, Adora, a large mix breed we think may be a cross between Rottweiler and Shepherd, and Tucker, our Golden Retriever. Two cats, Twix, a long haired orange tabby that talks ALOT, and a short haired black and white cat, KitKat, that is our oldest pet at the moment, he is 13.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
My daughter, ScoopsMom, has been on here since we first got our chickens a year and half ago, when our rooster got hurt, she found this site and all the helpful people. I am just now getting around to joining, now that I am semi retired.
