Hello Everyone NE Arkansas here.

:welcome

Hi Candy, sorry about the loss of your brother, sibs are tough to lose. Best wishes for a terrific hatch, keep us posted on how it turns out!
It most definitely is tough. He was like our oldest child. Within 6 months of being married he moved in with us. I just feel blessed that I’m getting to finish raising his daughter for him. I will definitely keep everyone posted on my new hatch. They went into the incubator yesterday at 4pm. And I’m as nervous as I can be. Just so many with the air sacks detached. Especiallly the silver black laced Wyandottes. They weren’t packed very well. I’m hoping for at least a few out of the 14 eggs I received. And thank you for the welcoming.

A few people candle daily and many seem to have no problem opening their incubator so much. Although, those who do that and have lower hatch rates or wind up with shrink wrapped chicks, I'm sure that's why.

I only candle weekly as I'm running staggered hatches and have to move mine too, to the lockdown incubator. I candle them all the day I move the ones going to lockdown.
Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you on the update. I ended up moving the incubators to my bedroom. They actually went up a tad bit in humidity. I ended up blocking one of the water rings in the bottom about 1/3 of the way around took the second water canister completely off and got the humidity down to 46%. The other is still hovering at 55% now that I inserted sponge. Have ordered an egg o meter and an ink bird pro thermometer due to my meters not having the tenths on the temp gauges. Due to be here Friday so I only have one meter in there instead of 2. I didnt know which was the best so I bought them both. Eggs went in yesterday afternoon at 4pm. Put on gloves and gently recandled them as I was putting them in. I’m really worried about the silver black laced Wyandottes. Out of 14 eggs 8 of the air cells are detached. Pretty bad packaging I was sent 15 one was completely crushed in shipping even though the box was not damaged. The ameracanas could not have been packaged better in my opinion. All air sac are intact and only one had a little wobble. As bad as I’m stressing I may bite the bullet and just order the chicks next time. 😵‍💫😵‍💫🤣🤣.

I would love to add a few silkies to the flock. Not sure if they are a more fragile egg or not. I still have so much to learn. And I guess I’m like everyone else would like to learn from there mistakes instead of my own. I plan to keep folks updated on my hatch. Would it be best to start a new thread on here or just keep updating here on this thread? Someone else on this thread asked me to keep everyone updated is why I ask.

Thank you for letting me pick your brain as much as I have. Hope I can return the favor sometime.

I never mind and most here don't either. That's what we're here for. :)

That's pretty normal with shipped eggs and you'll be surprised some of those you think won't make it will.

If you'd want to make your own page that you could go on forever with updates, I'd do it here, as I and many have.

Wishing you a great hatch!

Just wanted to give a quick update. I locked down 5 eggs out of 22 Friday. 4 of the shipped and one of my own. I’m pretty sure the last Americana didn’t make it as I see no movement. But don’t have the heart to take it out. 2 more days to hatch. Better news is 9 of the 12 silkie eggs I bought from a local breeder are on day 14 and even seen little baby feet when canceling today. It was amazing.
