Hello everyone. new from Washington State

My husband and I have been debating on raising our own chickens. That is how I found this site and we are very happy we did!! We live in Spanaway, Wa and have about a 1/2 acer. We are also starting an organic garden. As we learned more about the food industry and how horrible it is we have been going more and more organic which has lead us to this point or wanting our own chickens. I am very much looking forward to getting to know some of you better.

So my first real question is . . . is there anyone is the area that knows of some place we can go to see a backyard chicken coop in action!! My biggest fear with starting this not knowing enough and just diving in and then running into a problem I didn't anticipate. I have the book "raising chickens for dummies" on the way!!

There is another thread here for washingtonians. Many people post there. Could probably find somebody local there.... but if you "study" the info on this site it will help you a great deal. Lot of pics... lots of do and don't.... AND the people here ....amazing!!
