I am new both to raising chickens and to this forum. I just rescued some chickens that were dumped off in front of my friends house. I built a coop and now have a rooster and a hen. Any information for an absolute noob would be great.

Hi, welcome to BYC!

What a nice thing to take in the chickens! I promise you are going to have a lot of fun with them, chickens are so interesting.

The best place to start is the Learning Center (see the tab up toward the top?). There are all sorts of good articles in there and what you can't find there, just find the "best fit" forum to post your questions. Everyone here is very good about helping and supporting.

Welcome to Backyard chickens. By other new member remarks this seems to be the busiest year of chicken dumping. What a mean thing to do. They cannot last long among all the predators. Your couple are so lucky you adopted them. Any photos??
