G’Day from down under juhesihcaaa :frow Welcome!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

I am DEFINITELY interested in learning more about this. We have a massive deep freezer so space for meat isn't an issue. Do you have any links?

Thanks for the warm welcome and all the info everyone! I'm really excited about all this and it's great to have people to talk about it with!

There's a forum where you can ask questions about meat birds:
Meat Birds ETC

Here are some Learning Center links to articles about meat birds:
How To Raise & Process Chickens for Meat - Tips & Pictures
Comparison Of Breeds And Ages Of Chickens For Meat

And of course, using the Search function, you can find a lot of posts about them too.

Happy reading!

When you're ready look for a hatchery that can sell you either Cobb 500 or Ross 708 strains of CX. You'll need an 18% protein broiler feed and a couple 8x8 tractors as well as a brooder with lots of room. You'll also have to decide weather you want to store them as cut-up or whole or what mix works for you.
