My name is Jenny and I live in north Texas! I have been raising chickens for about 2 years now and I have 18 chickens - 14 hens and 4 roosters! Luckily when my husband and I decided to get chickens, we built a giant coop (known around here as the 'chicken mansion') with a big closed-in run area, so I have plenty of room to add! I have a mixture of silkie bantums, rohde island reds, plymouth rocks, and orpingtons.

I started with 10 baby chicks in 2016 and ended up incubating some eggs last May and got 8 out of 9 eggs hatched successfully!! Pretty good for a first-timer! From my first 10 chicks, I got 3 silkie bantums and 2 out of the 3 ended up being roosters so all of my new chickens that I hatched are half bantum with 2 of the 8 being roosters and they are much bigger than their dad(s). lol When we are home, the chickens are free range on our property so they get plenty of bugs and grass...plus I am always feeding them yummy fruits and veggies! Some of my friends joke that my chickens eat better than they do!

I really look forward to sharing stories with fellow chicken parents and learning all that I can!
