Hi all!
Just introducing myself to everyone!
I lived on a small farm when I was a child and we raised cattle, sheep, pigs, and of course CHICKENS!!
I'm grown up now (late 39's lol) married with 6 children of my own and we have talked about raising chickens many times, FINALLY we are actually doing it!
We got our chicks over the last 2 weeks. We have 18. 6 Black Sex Link pullets, 5 Buff Orpington straight run (hoping for pullets, maybe one rooster), 3 Americana pullets, 3 Barred Rock pullets, and 1 Rhode Island Red pullet!
I came upon Backyard Chickens when researching "pasty butt" and found a wealth of knowledge here! I have been back several times thanks to Google, so I decided to become a member!
I love being outside, gardening and nature walks, but I also have a great love for movies, particularly of the superhero genre!
My husband and I have 3 daughters and 3 sons, a mix breed rescue dog ("Harley Quinn"), 2 cats, ("Gotham" and "Scout"). We are all very excited to be on this exciting new chapter of our family life! Looking to learn as much as possible so we can be the best chicken family for our flock!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock or other critters, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)
