I've been reading post and articles for a long time, but thought I should finally signup and become an official member. I started my first flock in March, and I just got them out in their permanent home this past weekend. I started with a very small 1-2 hen coop and told myself I was going to start small, but when you pick out your chicks its hard to stop with 2. LOL so I have 6 beautiful mixed bantam hens and 2 roosters. I have a 10x10 run with a 4x4 raised coop and 3 nesting boxes. I don't expect eggs until august or september but I am excited. I also got 2 ducks in my eagerness to get started (they are the cutest babies). They are pekin's and seem to be a "pair". Everyone says ducks are messy... THEY ARE, but I love spending time with them and they play tag with my dogs, and swim in the creek. They have a 10x10 run to themselves with a 4x4 duck house and pond. I have spend a lot of money on this hobby, more than anyone probably should, but I look forward to the investment and expanding.
