We are a small farm/homestead in Partlow, VA. We have a plethora of animals such as breeding and raising Mangalitsa pigs. Now we’ve ventured into raising our own meat birds, Cornish Crosses. For right now, just raising meat for our family. We do everything organically (not certified though, refuse to pay the government outrageous fees). Large garden etc. Small CSA egg business. Yes we have a YouTube channel called “2 Quacks & 5 Clucks Farm”. Find us on Facebook & Instagram under the same name. We are here to get proper info on raising meat birds and any other questions involving our flock of chickens (36 hens, 2 roosters) all free range on 11 acres. I tried copy and pasting the questions for newbies to answer but it didn’t work but I hope I covered everything. Our meat birds are 13 days old currently. Thank you!

You're an hour and a half away from my favorite feed mill, Sunrise Farms... I'm still trying to figure out how to get their feed here. Either way, broilers are pretty easy. This time of year I keep mine in the brooder for 3 weeks and then move them in portable shelters daily on fresh grass for 35 days. I prefer 8X8 shelters as they are easier to move and manage. I feed mine Sunrise's broiler mix from start to finish.

Depending on where you reside, The Homestead Store off of Route 1 carries Sunrise Farms. That’s where I got my Sunrise Farms chick starter.
