(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Yes we are new, my husband bought a coop for some reason and so it began.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? We have Six 4 week old Asian Blacks, I think that is what they are called, I named them all Becky from finding Nemo. So I just call them Becky lol. Then we had already ordered a mix of 10 from the hatchery they are 3 weeks so 16 total. Ohhh boy 😳

(3) What breeds do you have? The Asian Black is the only name I know for sure. The mix of ten had 3 white speckled, 4 reddish, 2 black and one that looks like a penguin!

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? Eggs only not to eat. They are more like pets.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Doing stuff outside. Tinkering in the flower bed.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We have a cat Mi who could care less about the chicks, our Maltipoo is a jerk and wants to snap at them if he could. We are working on his bad behavior! I think he is so addicted to squeaker toys he doesn’t understand they are not a toy. Like I said he is a jerk and spends most of his time in Time Out. Married, only 1 kiddo still home, and one grad daughter who thinks the chicks are great. But we won’t let her hold them yet, she will break them 😳😳

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D. I am stressed over one of my 3 week old chicks with a bald mass thing and everything I was ready was from your site and I really wanted to belong to something that will help me raise the babies to little ladies 😁

I did post it on the emergency thread. But I can put them here too in case anyone can help. Thanks for the direction, still checking out the site.

Hello, and Welcome to BYC!

Sorry to hear about your chick! How does the area feel, squishy, hard, does it feel like it may be filled with air or liquid? You may do a search on "ruptured air sac" spefically the cervical sac's or interclavicular and see if that looks similar to your chick. Nonetheless, it's not normal, and if you have the option she should be taken to a vet.
