So I just joined the BYC community! A bit about myself... My chicken journey started in 2015 with a 12x4 coop made of pallets & plywood. After a lot of fixing up and DIYing, I got my first batch of hens:

Spring 2015: 7 laying hens (all ISA browns). Got them at POL. Had them till fall then gave them to a friend for winter since our coop is not winterized and where I live it gets to -40*Celcius (-40 Fahrenheit) in wintertime. Did have one girl who had a prolapsed vent (that was a surprise!) and she passed away before fall. So ended with 6 hens that year.

Spring 2016: 8 laying hens (all ISA browns). Also got them POL. Same situation had them till fall then gave them to the same friend for winter.

Didn't have chickens for a few years, but got them again just before the COVID breakout.

Spring 2020: 18 laying hens: 1 barred rock, 1 red rock cross, 3 lavender cuckoo buff Orpingtons, 5 black copper Marans, 8 ISA browns & 1 rooster (not sure what breed he is). ISA browns & Mr. Rooster were spring 2020 hatch and got them just before POL. Others are 11 months to 1.5 years old. Chickens are a nice animal to have that give back too. I'm looking forward to learning more about the BYC community!! I attached some pics of my current flock 🥚🐔:jumpy🐤
