(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I have been living the crazy chicken lady life since moving to the countryside in 2019. I'd never had chickens prior to this so it's been lovely learning about these lovely little animals over time
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have 21 free range chickens and have just hatched 30+ chicks
(3) What breeds do you have?
Our 21 chickens are a mixture of cream legbars, brahma cross Wyandotte, silkies , pekin bantams, aracauna, aracauna cross pekin bantam, ayam ceyami , Groninger meeuwen bantams, marans, black star, bluebell
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Watching them live a good life and seeing their own little personalities shine through in each one. I could sit and watch them for hours just living their lives and providing entertainment at the same time with their quirks
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Cooking, traveling, crafting and DIY , badminton, camping, photography
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I live with my partner of 7 years, with our vizsla, Weimaraner, and 3 cats. We live in the Highlands of Scotland in the countryside and have the best neighbours who also have a croft so we all help each other out. I am a chocolatier and my partner is a jack of all trades
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I've been dipping in and out of BYC via Google since getting chickens but decided it's time to join as I'm sure I will need lots of help with questions regarding our 30+ chicks haha
