I can only have a dozen hens, no roo's and it gets cold in the winter and hot in the summer, so I've been considering a mix of Australorps, Orpingtons, and maybe Wyandottes, but I'm still doing research. I have an 8 x 10 aluminum shed that is inside a run that held 3 german shorthairs comfortable at one time, so I think I have enough room for that many. It also has a big apple tree at one end for shade. Right now I'm concentrating on getting the coop and run ready and then I'll start chick shopping, I'm pretty excited about the whole process!
