I am not "new" to raising chickens, I just got way to big to fast, and got overwhelmed. I sold, and gave away my whole flock, which consisted of over 300 OEB. I stayed out for 2 years, but I now have L/F orpingtons. I have 6 buff hens, 1 blue rooster, 1 splash rooster, and 6 lavender. I have come to find I really like the orpington's personality. I do travel to get my birds from people, I'm not to much into shipping, because of the stress on the birds. All my birds follow me around the yard like a puppy, and even come sit by me when I'm just relaxing in the yard watching them. I'm very much an animal lover, and would some day like to have a farm. and good luck with your poultry adventure! I love my orpingtons, their one of the two breeds (the other is light sussex)I would like to narrow my flock down to, and start to breed.
