I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Becca. I've been lurking on BYC for one year and have finally decided to take the plunge and join.
We started our small flock June of last year by adopting four hens. One was a rescue because the other three hens nearly pecked her to death. (ETA: My avatar shows 3 of the 4 just after we adopted them.) This spring we added six more to our flock. We raised them from chicks. Now we have eight hens and two roosters. They are as follows:
3 white leghorns hens, two years old
1 New Hampshire red hen, two years old
2 New Hampshire red hens, four months old
2 black jersey giant hens, four months old
2 silver-laced wyandotte roosters, four months old
When we bought our chicks, we were hoping for all hens. We took a chance with the SLW and ended up with roos. But they were so pretty we decided to keep them both.
