Hello Evrrybody, I'm Uncle Rhino

Already have 6 TSC coops now building this one. What I have learned is they seem to divide into coops to roost at night. Yet will lay their eggs in another coop. They don't seem to go in order of when joined they or breed, or any logical reason I see. Only thing I do know is my cat feels like he gets no respect, my lab princess best friend is Moe. When I'm working in the yard, on the tractor they all follow me around. Wierd as it sounds the 3 dogs. Jr the cat, two roosters and the hens all get along.

View attachment 1885951 It all started for 2 yrs and 6 months ago when my better half said she was bringing 4 young roosters home for me to butcher. When she got home she had 4 very small black Banty's. After 6 months we had one survivor Moe. He had become her pet. Next thing you know we had 12 hens, then 30. Now we have 60 Hen, Moe, and a hen that turned into a Rooster we named himHerbert. They are all free range, completely spoiled. Now building a large coop 16× 8× 8. Never built one from scratch before. There it is glad to meet you all

I think mine go loosely based on their ranking in the pecking order. Capons are the first to enter the coop followed by the lower ranking hens, pullets and cockerels (that I plan to keep intact), then the dominant hens followed by the roosters. However some more independent hens take their time.

My 80 or so ducks seem to enter the coop together and so does guineas (sometimes we have to herd them in). I house turkeys and geese separately.
