My name is Shay and I love my backyard flock just like everyone else on this site! I decided just a year ago that I was going to start a flock of my own and this has become a part of my life!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I started raising my flock a year ago after meeting my neighbors adorable hens!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I currently have 14 full grown hens and 11 more chicks.
(3) What breeds do you have?
I have 2 cinnamon queens, 2 buff orpingtons, 3 brahmas, 1 red cross, 3 rhode island reds, 1 golden laced Wyandotte, 1 silver laced Wyandotte, 4 white leg horns, 1 barred rock, 1 isa brown, I australorp, 1 black sex link, 3 ameracaunas, and 2 silkies. PHEW! Yes I have a very colorful flock
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
A little over a year ago I started my research on pinterest trying to fill my brain with as much knowledge as possible before I decided to bring my first chicks home. BYC came up on one of the pins on pinterest and I found it very helpful!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
My other hobbies include gardening, scrapbooking and just about anything outdoors!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My family tells me I have a zoo, but I just say I have a large fuzzy family! I also have 2 cats, a dog and beautiful aquariums throughout the house. My future additions include goats and maybe ducks!
