Hello! My brother wanted me to make an account on here so I finally did lol, and now I can't wait to talk with all you guys about one of my favorite animals in the world! The chicken!!
(1) Are you new to chickens/when did you first get chickens?
No, I am not, my family and I have been chicken tenders (get it? like the food, lol) for about four years now, I believe.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Right now we have 2 roosters and 23 hens.
(3) What breeds do you have?
The 1st rooster is a Road Island Red Jersey Giant, and the 2nd rooster is a Barred Rock x Jersey Giant.
2 of the hens are Dominique's, 8 other hens are Rhode Island Reds, 7 other hens are Black Jersey Giants, 3 other hens are Golden Laced Wyandotte's, and then we have 1 Blue Dutch Bantam hen and 1 Golden Laced Wyandotte Bantam hen. Finally, we have my second most beloved chicken, which is the oldest one we have, a Rhode Island Red. (btw this hen is different from the other 8 Rhodys)
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
My favorite aspects about raising backyard chickens are that they are SO cute! they provide eggs and entertainment, and that they are just fun to watch! oh, and also I love having a chicken to call my own.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Some of my other hobbies are, Dirt biking, Gaming (like Xbox or PC games), working on cars, and other engine-related things, also I am trying/wanting to learn bass guitar. Oh, and skiing is super fun too!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, or anything else you'd like to share.
Well for starters I have 5 other siblings, 2 sisters and 3 brothers. We have two insanely cute dogs, Daisy who is a Coton de Tulear/Papillon mix, and Clover who is a Coton De Tulear/Bichon Frise mix. Then my twin brother and I have two pet beta fish, named Pumpkin and Pancake, and we also have a Green Cheeked Conquer named Appa, who we rescued. We live on a two-acre plot, which is mostly hill, but we have flattish spots for our chickens, and possibly turkeys at some point. Also, we just got two outside cats, (for the mice) named Midnight and Maple.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I didn't find it, one of my older brothers did lol. I have known about it for probably 3 or so months, but I've just been putting off making an account. The thing that finally made me join was my older brother asking me to make an account every day, lol
