My name is Ariel and I'm new raising chicks! I just recently got 7 chicks and love them! Have no idea what kinds they are though! All I know is pretty sure we have one rooster and the rest are hens. I'm looking forward to learning all about them! We will be raising them to be free range and for their eggs as of right now they sleep in my room since its too cold outside still and we're working on converting a homemade shed into a coop.

Glad you joined the flock. The Learning Center is a great place to start a chicken education. I would also recommend the "Raising Backyard Chickens," forum - among the side tabs are threads on young chicks, etc. Generally chicks aren't ready to be outside until they are fully feathered out. Of course - severe cold would put a hold on that.

Hi :welcome Ariel

Glad you could join the flock! Congratulations on your new chicks :celebrate great advice there for you from drumstick diva and a good link from Mountain Peeps.
Raising chicks is such a rewarding experience as you nurture and watch them grow into adult birds.
Good luck with your new chicks and enjoy BYC :frow

Welcome to BYC, Ariel!

I'm glad you joined our community.

If you want to know what breeds your chicks are, just post some photos of them. We'll be happy to help determine their breeds.
