Hi! I am relatively new to the chicken keeping world...going on a couple years now. I have a small flock of spoiled backyard hens consisting of 2 EE, 1 OE, + 2 SSAS. I am retired Military (NAVY) I have four dogs- 2 Italian Greyhounds, 1 long haired Doxie, and 1 miniature schnauzer. I also have a koi pond with mostly shubunkins and comets, love my pond. Originally from CA.
I am looking for Mille Fleur Leghorns day old chicks...anybody close to Oregon breed them??? Please PM me, thanks! :) (Navigating this site is sometimes frustrating) I'm also wanting to know if someone can please tell me all about this MFL breed.
How did the breed come about?
What chickens were used in order to create them?
Who breeds them now, anyone?
I would really like to own several, however, the people that I find on here that have anything to do with this breed never reply. Can someone who knows something please help point me in the right direction?
Thank you!

Welcome to BYC!! Well if you're in Salem, you have the OR state fair coming up end of August, right? I am sure there will be every breed/color of chicken imaginable. Just Google their livestock schedule....
Good luck! And enjoy the eclipse too!!

Thanks SueT! Yep, already got my tickets for the Oregon State Fair...August 25 - September 4, 2017 Can't wait to see the eclipse and then the birds - Let's hope someone there has info about MFL's :D

I didn't know that leghorns come in Mille Fleur coloring! If you find any there, take a pic for us. (I have brown leghorns and Mille Fleur D'uccles) My kids live in Portland, and we hope to move there soon...somewhere semi rural within driving distance, that is.

I didn't know that about leghorns either but, everyday on BYC brings something new to learn.

@LEMae, we are going to a big regional fair tomorrow. I'll definitely look for some MFLs there.

I didn't either until I saw a pic of them on this site : https://www.backyardchickens.com/gallery/6696750/
but the lady doesn't reply to me so ??? I've tried complimenting her birds and including her in conversations...nothin yet.
:confused::confused::confused:
Anyway,... I've also found them here: @ http://www.sandhillpreservation.com/catalog/chickens.html
However ordering from these guys is something of an endeavour, plus I'm not tryin to buy 25 new babies and breeds I'm not interested in just to have to turn around and sell them off OR once I find out after brooding them in 6 weeks that the bird I fell in love with is a Roo :(:bow . OH well, that's how it goes I guess.
But yeah, they are a great lookin bird and I can't wait to own several!
