Hello and good luck with your flock!I am confused on the info you gave on Swirl or the first pic posted. You say it crows and should lay in the spring. To me it looks like a male Easter Egger. I am not an expert though. The red shoulders are a sign of a male. Also the comb looks like there are three rows to it. Can you please discuss this more?
ive read up on it, worried myself, and it says that if you flock has no rooster then a hen will take the place. some even grow spurs and male tale feathers. some even try to mate with the other females. she is still a female and will still lay, but she thinks like a rooster. ^-^

Cockatrace, does Swirl lay now? You said earlier she will in the spring and how old is Swirl? Yes a roosterless hen can act like a male but not always.
