My parents have always owned chickens but I now have my own flock of chickens and ducks.
How many chickens do you have right now?
6 chickens and 5 ducks
What breeds do you have?
Plymouth Rocks, Lavender Araucana, Black Copper Maran, Easter Egger/Olive Egger (we still aren't sure which one she is) and we also have a Brahma.
What are your favourite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
They are funny to watch and some of them are super friendly and they are like my babies, the eggs are definitely a plus as well.
Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We have our six chickens and our five ducks, three Indian Runners (2 hen 1 drake) and two Cayuga ducks (1 hen 1 drake)
How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found this page from numerous googles about my birds and thought I may as well join the community!
Hello! My two duck groups are normally separated during the day and they have different sleeping huts which is also separate from the chickens. The chickens free roam with my ducks everyday and get along together very well which is amazing! Its just my two drakes that don't tend to get along. My Indian runner drake constantly chases my Cayuga drake. I'm not sure if the aggression is due to mating season or if they will just never get along.Hello and welcome!!! How are your drakes getting along? Do you have the ducks and chickens all together?
They are all only around 4-5 months of age.
