In the Brooder
I'm new to breeding chickens. More specifically, I still do not have them. In mid-March, I will get 16 one-day chickens ... Sussex, New Hampshire, Australorp and Amrock.
I'm pretty excited about this new hobby. I renovated the old wood storage (65 square feet), I bought feeders, waterers, IR lamp, got sawdust...and I read everything I found on chicks, including many articles and forums at BackYard Chickens site.
I live in Serbia (eastern Europe), 20 miles from the capital city of Belgrade. Fortunately, I have a garden of 30 acres, with no neighbors, so I have all the conditions for the free-range.
My reasons for this great venture are healthy food (both eggs and meat) for my small family, but also new, funny pets.
Your advice will be precious to me.
