Hello! I have enjoyed reading through articles here so I thought I would join- so far advice I have found on here has been invaluable! We moved into our log cabin home on 16 acres of woods- plus a few extra acres between the home site and driveway- just last summer. I started building a chicken coop in the fall/winter in my garage and finished it not too long ago. We ordered our first chickens back in January and they are already going to be 6 weeks old tomorrow! I have 5 Broilers and 22 dual/layers. I got a mixed flock for the layers- pretty much a little of everything (almost)! And a few days ago we also picked up 6 ducklings at TSC since I didn't want to go through the ordeal of waiting for ducks in the mail (although I am planning to order a few geese that aren't available now til the end of April since I can't locate anyone around here locally who has Roman Tufted for sale- BLAH).
Pictures below- 1) My permanent coop and run area (which I'm actually working on an expansion for on the back I'm trying to finish before the gang gets put outside- since I ended up getting more than I originally planned to get!)
2) My mobile coop and electric netting set-up.
3) My gang of 22 layers- couple are roosters- 1 was meant to be, another was not (LOL)
4) My Broilers in their new garage brooder area (everyone was outgrowing the divided coop we had set up originally for both groups). Now everyone is happy and has enough space until it's warm enough and they're old enough to go outside!
Really tired of cold weather and eagerly awaiting putting all the chickens outdoors soon!!
Anyway- happy to be here and looking forward to reading and learning a lot more! Thanks!
