Hi all, got my first 2 chickens on Sunday, they are housed in an Eglu classic with run and hoping to let them have a free'r run in the garden after a few days.
They are Columbian Black tails and seem relatively happy having cuddles from my wife :-)
This morning had our first egg, which was nice.
Surprised at just how much they poo, but am sure that I shouldn't be.
Anyway, may try to get a pic on here soon once I find my way around.

Hi! Welcome to BYC; we're glad you joined us!

You can use the chicken poo in your garden if you find yourself overwhelmed with it!

Congrats on getting your first egg and best wishes for many more.

And the pooh? Well, that just goes with having chickens (or any other bird as far as I know).

Hope you're enjoying them. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Hi NorthFLChick thanks for the welcome.
I do have one question, I have been cleaning out the coop daily which is cool, but the Eglu run is very low and am not sure how or if I should clean out the run?
Or should I relocate the coop/run every day to be able to clean the old run area?

Hi :welcome from Yorkshire UK

Glad you could join the flock! Congrats on your new chickens :celebrate I would love an eglu I was only looking the other day at the go up one very nice but a little pricey. But would really like a couple in the future, I will have to get to work on my other half!! I would move your run around so you can keep them clean. When I move chicks out to the coop and run on the lawn I move it round every other day so they keep reasonably clean and grass has time to recover.
Wishing you the very best of luck with your new chicken adventure. Hope you enjoy BYC and all the chicken chat :frow
