So much helpful information that it took me over a month to take the time to become a member!!

We live in NE IN and getting ready to build our first coop!! Thanks to this site and members contributions, hopefully, we will do it right!

I am in Northern CA and have found this site to be super helpful. (and addictive....)

Have fun building! The best thing my hubby did was put the egg door on the outside! That way if I'm in a rush I can just reach in and grab the eggs from the nest boxes from outside, and don't have to go all the way in if I'm running late for work, or just want eggs before the girls get to come out for the day. VERY easy! There are lots of good ideas for coops scattered about on this site, so read all of them and decide what would work well for your situation.

Let me be the 2nd to welcome you to BYC. This site IS extremely addicting and is prone to making me lose track of time. Be warned! Good luck on your coop building; mine is almost done for our spring arrivals.

from Nevada! I totally agree with dldolan about the nest box doors on the outside...HUGE timesaver. Other things that makes chicken keeping so much easier are automatic feeders and chicken nipples. Have fun, there is a ton of info here!
