Hello everyone! This is such a wonderful site! Its been so helpful already!
I used to raise chickens with my family when I was a kid, mostly Rhode Island reds, Barred Rocks, White leghorns and whatever mixed breeds came out from under the broody hens! But it has been 15+ years since I have raised any. Then, two years ago my Husband and I got two lovely girls to live in the backyard, we were devastated to lose one of out girls (Spirit) last year. This spring we got two new chicks to add to our lonely one hen flock.
We now have 3 chickens, one, JetPack who it about 2 years old and Truffle and Malta are the new additions and are about 7 weeks old now.
JetPack = Americana
Truffle = Buff Orpington
Malta = Silver Laced Wyandotte
(Spirit was an Iowa Blue)
I found this site while researching chickens when we started keeping them 2 years ago, and got back on when Spirit got sick. I'm not sure why I never made an account before now!
I hope that at some point I am able to help out other people as much as I've been helped! Maybe once my chicken knowledge base expands a little!
