Hey friends!
I am a fairly new chicken and duck owner living on Vancouver Island. I gor my first 4 Hyline Brown hens as POL last May and they have been so fantastic. We added 2 Polish x Sapphire mixes a few months after (who have been loveable weirdos) and then inherited a pair of Leghorn x Sussex mixes that are sweet as pie. In the future I would love some Crested Cream Legbars or Copper Marans for more egg basket diversity.
5 weeks ago I got a trio of 3 day old Welsh Harlequin ducks and have been having a blast raising them. I'm shocked at how fast they grow and how precocious they are. They are almost fully feathered now and I think I might have all drakes (oops!) but holding out hope I'm proven wrong. I'm hoping to get a couple Ancona ducks to join us in the future.
For now this is definitely all the feather babies my property can handle, but dreaming of getting onto acreage and having more!
Looking forward to learning more about raising these guys responsibly and respectfully.
