Hey guys like most of us I am new to raising chickens. I got them for the eggs. I did the research and was amazed what the difference was between factory and free range eggs. My family goes through so many eggs in a day so it was a no brainier to get some chicks. I have four breeds from my local farm supply store. Wyandottes, Plymouth rocks, black Australorps and rhode islands reds. I think watching them is very peaceful for me but also educational because I am noticing there behaviors.

Your state thread is worth joining as you will get to know other BYC members in your area (https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/270925/find-your-states-thread). The members here are amazing - very friendly and helpful, so if you need an answer to a question or simply want some reassurance that what you are doing is ok, then post away - we all help each other out here at BYC.

All the best

Thanks CT I will. My Co-workers told that there is a pecking order in the group like 1-10. Watching them establish rank and figuring the order is my challenge.

Thanks guys got a couple questions for the experienced ones out there. Can you rotate some of your hens from a main coop to a portable one on a daily basis? My main coop will be in the back and the portable would be in the front away from the rest of the flock. And if I have 11 hens how many nests would I need minimum in their main coop? Thanks for your time
