Hi there! I've been stalking these forums for weeks now, so I might as well introduce myself
My name's Jen, and I first got introduced to chickens last fall when a friend was trying to find homes for pullets and young roosters that her free-range hens had hatched over the summer. My husband was kind enough to build me a coop, and I took 4 EE hens and an EE rooster. Sadly, I left their coop door open one night this spring, and the rooster and 3 hens are now gone.
I didn't want Matilda, the one remaining hen, to be left all alone for too long, so I ordered some chicks from McMurray's hatchery, and on Tuesday morning I got 26 babies - 24 are now happy and healthy on day 5
Expect many posts in the future as I try to figure out what breeds and genders I have - I ordered the "special assortment", and I have an absolutely adorable array of colors and patterns on these babies! I even have a few feather-footed chicks! The next project for my wonderful hubby is to build a bigger coop
Anyhoo, I just wanted to say hi, and now I'll go back to stalking all of your other posts! Have a great day!
