Hello,
I am new to this site but not new to raising animals. I grew up on a dairy farm and had pet horses, pigs, rabbits, etc., but we never had poultry or any kind. Now, as an adult in a rural/suburban setting the only farm animal that will fit our yard is chickens. This summer, after much research, I built a chicken coop and large run. My husband and I want our sons (ages 5 and 9) to learn all the many lessons that come with raising animals and so far it's been a great family project. We should start getting eggs any day now and are very excited.
I look forward to being a member of Backyard Chickens as I've long thought that people who raise animals are just more down-to-earth and friendly.
