Hi! I'm a new member but have been using the site since we got our chickens last summer. BYC is an invaluable resource and we are so grateful to be able to refer to it for raising our crew. We originally started with 3 hens, just recently was kindly given a beautiful rooster and are now incubating 43 eggs (today is day 6) given to us from our awesome neighbors. We are excited!

Hi! Welcome to Abita and welcome to BYC. Abita is a wonderful place to live. We live in the country not in the middle of town. We came after Hurricane Katrina destroyed our home on the eastern side of the parish. I hope that you learn to love Abita as much as we do.
BYC is a wonderful site and there are such knowledgeable people, always willing to help. They helped me so very much in our first hatching experience. We started last year with 3 hens. We now have 4 roosters and 21 hens and absolutely love them. I don't believe I will ever have enough lol
We never post specific info about where we live, but our neighbor across the street said he met new family that just moved to our neighborhood.
If you are looking for a rooster, let me know.
