Hello everyone,

I just signed up for the forum as I am in search of a bit more knowledge when it comes to owning laying hens.

I have not started yet but plan to start in the spring right from chicks. I plan to get them from our local critter market event that takes place every spring. Local breeders and farming enthusiasts alike will be there. I love this approach where I can see how the chicks look and are acting before I purchase them.

Anyways I’ll be starting a thread in the managing your flock section in which I’ll be asking about breeds I should purchase or consider. Look forward to talking with you all!

Hi! Glad to have you here with us! You will meet lots of really good people with helpful information about chickens. Some threads can help you determine the sex of your chicks so you don't get all boys too!
