I found this template and figured I’d answer it for fun! Most of it doesn’t apply to me as I’m waiting to start my first flock. But here it goes.


(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

Very new. I’ve seen them in person and have spent time with a flock of meat chickens (idk breed) and turkeys(white ones??). Once when they were just 2 week olds and then again right before butchering. The Turkeys were my absolute favorite! And if I could I’d own turkeys but alas I don’t live on a country lot.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

None

(3) What breeds do you have?

N/A

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

N/A

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

Hunting, fishing, camping, archery, baking, dirt biking.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I have 2 young boys ages 2 & 1. I have a darling husband who’s a carpenter.

I have a Great Pyrenees mix named Judge that is coming up on 2 years old. He is amazing with my kids! A great yard protector. He is all show and no go which basically means he puts up a mean front if someone comes near his yard but he will be their best friend once introduced outside of the yard.

I also have 2 cats (mix breeds). Kuna is 14 years old and I’ve had her since she was born. She is aloof of strangers but loves me. Then there is Kit Who is 3 years old and acts like a dog. She comes when called, follows you around the house, helps herself right into our neighbors house (luckily it’s the in laws) and she also guards my house. If Judge barks she runs to the front window and growls. It’s comical.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?

I was in search of information about chickens and keeping chickens. Used the ol’ google and BYC popped up. Only known about the sight for 4 months or so and I finally joined because I wanted peoples 1st hand knowledge about specific breeds.
