Growing up on a farm, I've had chickens all my life but I now live on a half acre lot with a county ordnance that you must have at least 40,000 square feet in order to raise up to 32 chickens. Since I am an archaeologist/environmental protection specialist by profession, I'd like to raise 4 Golden Campines for love of chickens, help with my "green" garden, their beauty and because it gives me a sense of helping to preserve a living history. Problem is we've become a county for the "rich" and this might be an uphill battle that I can't win.
Has anyone out there helped put an ammendment into an existing poultry (chicken) ordnance? I love what they are doing in Baltimore City so look up their Wordpress "Raising Chickens In Baltimore City article. I was involved in the planning of an Earth Day event last year and the person who brought his set up for backyard row house chicken raising was a big hit.
Thanks,
Jerry
