Hi, I'm a new member and glad to be here. I've read a lot of threads and it has been helpful over the past year. I live in the Ozarks and started out with 11 Australorpe chicks April, 2017. With much info from here, I feel like my husband and I are doing pretty good. He built a cattle fence coop and covered it with wire mesh and tarp. It' worked out really great. Our kids are grown so I get to spend time with our chickens. I love it. These Australorpe are good layers and so pretty. Very tame and generally quiet.
I will be expanding my flock soon to include some Marans.
