We have wanted to have chickens for years, but due to a lot of traveling, we never had the chance until now. We bought a farmhouse that originates from the early 1800's and while not all the original land still belongs to the house, we still have a little over 1.5 acres. We picked up 2 incubators on the classifieds and are getting them up to temperature/humidity now. We are getting some Ayam eggs tomorrow and some Easter Eggers later in the week. We plan to get meat birds as well, but will probably get them already hatched. We have 3 kids between 13 and 17 and they are excited for this new adventure 😊. Our 13 year old has been wanting a pet chicken for years. He's not sure what kind he wants yet...maybe one of the hatchings or maybe a different breed altogether, like a silkie. Would love opinions on that! We have lots of learning to do and expect this place to be a valuable resource.

Welcome to our coop. It's a good site to extract information from.
Nova Scotia is on my bucket list, 3d Item from the top!:D

Thank you! It seems like a wealth of info! I'm a bit overwhelmed, but I know it will all come with time and experience 😊. We're in PEI...another spot you should put on your list!
