My name is Janice
I live in Massachusetts
I have a husband (AKA coop-builder), 4 kids (3 of them grown), 2 Boxer dogs, one really shy cat.... and 9 chicks coming next week!!!

I have a lot of folks telling me I'm a little nutty (well, a lot nutty) for wanting to add chickens into the mix... but I'm trying to ignore them, thinking ahead to the fall (BAKING SEASON) when I have wicked awesome eggs to bake with. THEN we'll see who the nay-sayers are!!

I have 3 Black Australorps coming on Saturday, and then 3 Buff Orpingtons and 3 Golden Lace Wyandottes coming the following Friday.

Hey there! Wow... thanks everyone for the great welcome!! I'm really kind-of excited about getting my chickies!! I have my brooder box ready, and our shed-to-coop conversion is more than
half-way done. These are the nesting beds my hubby built, I lovingly call them, "The Red Roost Inn"!! We have natural branch perches on the opposite side. We have to fence in the run outside and cut out the coop door leading out to the run. We have about a month and a half to work with, so we are on a good schedule! Very exciting!
