I think I'm a bit far from most members here, but I have seen a few other Aussies in my couple of years spent lurking around this forum, so I can't be alone haha. I live on a farm in rural Australia and I don't remember ever not having chickens. For the longest time they were real whatever breeds but within the last few years they've been cleared out and a whole host of weird and wonderfuls have moved in. I have a keen interest in genetics and have begun a big project to create a true to type Rhodebar, as - now correct me if I'm wrong - but there are none in Australia (or very very few, I've certainly never heard of them here) and I do think we're missing out on this side of the pond.
Anyway, that's me and mine, see you around!

G'Day. BYC has a large Aussie community and thread "Australia, six states and one funny little island." Everyday I run across my Aussie friends on various threads.

I notice we have a user "Rhodebar ", who I assume has the same breed of chickens. You could inquire about the availability of Rhodebars on the Aussie thread. Maybe you will be pleasantly surprised.

Hello! I have family up on the Sunshine Coast, lovely beaches :)
Most chickens belong to my mother in actual fact, but we have too many Australorps, Naked Necks (they're the new fad around here haha), White Sussex, a couple BPR and a few random strays and crossbreeds. I'm currently waiting for some more good quality RIR eggs to arrive to improve on what we have which I'm excited about. We have a lot of birds but we keep them in fox-proof paddocks with shedding and they have the run of the farm during the day.

I love my two bantam austrolorps. One was sick a few days ago with a egg tuck in her stomache but she is all better now. I have one Isa brown hen who is 5 years old and is still laying everyday. I have a silver laced wyandotte hen who now has been broody for 3 week straight. Then i have my 8 pekins which i breed. I have just put an order in for one araucana and one french maran pullets so thats something to look forward too this week end.
