Hi Guys

What a great site. Your forum is really impressive.

I have been composting for years but late last year I was introduced to BSF (Black Soldier Fly) composting. The reason why I am mentioning it here is because with worm farming your main end product is compost whereas the end product with BSF composting is Larvae that chickens love to eat.

The BSFL (Black Soldier Fly Larvae) are huge eaters and can convert kilos of food scrap p/m square of scrap food into chicken feed overnight literally.

I run a forum with tones of info and an active forum dedicated to Black Soldier Fly Farming and would like to take this opportunity to introduce it the the poultry world www.blacksoldierflyfarming.com

If you have any questions I will do my best to answer them here also.

thats an interesting method but good for the chickens

Hi guys thanks for the welcome, very much appreciated :)

I worked on my families meat chicken farm all my teenage years before moving to Australia. One of the biggest issues and cost on the farm was getting the best feed possible to guarantee a healthy product. Now with the environmental changes and croplands shortage, chicken feed is becoming more and more expensive and more unsustainable. I'm hoping that one day soon chicken farmers all over the world can use BSF to sustainably feed their chickens, help reduce food waste destined for the tip and cut feed costs dramatically if not completely.

BSF can theoretically recycle all abattoir waste otherwise destined for the tip and chicken manure turning it all into feed that the chooks prefer to eat naturally anyway.

Looking forward to talking more chickens on the forum.
