Hello from Australia

AW no, I was just going to tell you the beards and crests obscure their vision badly and their wings aren't meant to fly - silkies are sitting ducks. Other breeds usually do bully and pick on them and on Polish as well, because they don't look like other chickens and are usually very docile. People tend to see silkies as dumb but, clipping feathers away from eyes brings about a surge in IQ points. They do tend to make the best broody hens and mothers.

We do have a nice aussie thread "Australia, six states and one funny little island." There is one nice lady that posts around , she is in Australia and has silkies with no problem - can't remember her name just now.

Yes it was rather sad. I honestly would not have minded having a fox come by for a feed....we all gotta eat...but she slaughtered them all and didn't bother to eat them...the WASTE! That is what really made me angry and broke my heart!
Anyway, today was a huge day! My 4 hens and rooster have been looked in the coop since the fox visited and today we expanded and reinforced the outdoor enclosure area. The fence is higher and harder to dig under and much, much larger so they won't be out roaming free in the yard anymore. My garden and paths are all safe from their scratching and messes, but I will miss them following me around. At least this way they are safer though!
Now I also have room for, and am investigating, fodder and growing green patches for them! I will fences off small sections for seeding and regrowth, then let them decimate it!
I will also be taking on 2 full grown silkie hens who apparently don't lay...they can brood and mother for me instead!

Since this is a new member thread, likely folks will start to re-welcome you.

I think you should continue….but start a new thread under the family stories or random stuff would be better.
