Hello! I live on a small-ish farm with my dad. It has about two or three acres of land with pens, a barn, a very large chicken coop, and a fenced in grassy field. I have three chickens left from when I was in FFA but they are more for pets since they don't lay eggs anymore. I plan on buying an incubator (or making one!) soon so I can start hatching out some little chicks! I have no idea what kind to get though. They would need to be able to tolerate heat very well. My whole goal is to become more self-sufficient by raising/growing my own food (I also made an account on backyardherds.com

) I LOVE this forum so far! Its so informative! I'm seeing wonderful ideas for making an incubator and brooder! I can't wait to start

Where in AZ! I'm in Kingman. I haven"t done any incubating yet, so can't help you with that question. As far as heat tolerant, my red stars and white leghorns have done well, but none have done badly, even the black astrolorps. As long as they have shade and water, they seem to do fine. They do like a wading pan to cool their legs in, though.
